Unity Brook Commemoration
I accompanied Year 3 to the Unity Brook Memorial Site this afternoon. It was the 142nd anniversary of the Mining Disaster of 1878 and Year 3, alongside pupils from Spindle Point, read out the names of all the victims. The children beautifully and they were a credit to their schools. Well done Year…

Today marks the anniversary of the Unity Brook disaster. To mark the occasion we visited the graves of those who were buried in St Stephen's graveyard in the morning and then, in the afternoon, we took part in a moving service at the memorial which is close to where the disaster took…
