Year 5 Blog

We were historians today.  We worked in small groups today looking at reasons why the Anglo-Saxons chose to invade and settle in England.  We had to think really hard about each of the statements and be in agreement.

Christmas Dinner day for Y5 and all of the children in our school.

Here we are on the Number 8 bus! We went to the Octagon Theatre in Bolton to watch an adaption of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.  We have been reading and writing about the book as part of our learning in English and, when we found out about the play, we jumped at the chance to watch it.…

Here we are making a Christingle in preparation for our Church service.

Maths is a very important aspect of life in Year Five.  Here we are applying our growing mathematical knowledge to either prove or disprove a series of mathematical statements.

As part of our geographical learning about mountains we wanted to develop our knowledge and understanding of maps.  We decided to make a contour model of a mountain range. It wasn't  as easy as it looked but it helped our learning tremendously.

Learning how to ride a bicycle is an incredibly important skill so we are pleased to welcome the BikeAbility back to our school.  Here you can see the children practicing how to ride their bicycle safely before venturing onto the estate.

The children were wonderful! Well done! :)

Fridays can only mean one thing in Year Five ... MUSIC! Here we are learning how to play the  glockenspiel.

Here we are playing 'Give One, Get One' which is a brilliant game to play.  It really helps us to learn new knowledge and to learn it by heart! Today's game was all about mountains.
