Sketching with Year 2
Just spent a great afternoon with Year 2. Writing poems and sketching - a really enjoyable way to develop imaginations and drawing skills - and some very pleasing results. (Even though the highlight of the afternoon was the military helicopter that 'buzzed' the playground while we were out…
St George's Day
It's been a VERY good day! We started with an assembly about St George, enjoyed some typical (I wish) English weather before welcoming Mr Tony Birch (Assistant Director for Education and Learning) for a visit to the school. As always, the children were a credit to the school (and their parents)…
Links with Kearsley Academy
Over recent years we have forged very strong links with Kearsley Academy. We are currently sending some of our Year 6 pupils on 'Brainiacs' sessions where the children receive additional coaching in English and mathematics (just in time for SATs!). Our English Brainiacs are pictured here waiting…
Rugby and Dance Clubs
What a great day! When all the reading, writing and 'rithmetic had finished we STILL had time for lots of our children to sharpen up their rugby skills on the field and to develop their dance moves in the hall - courtesy of Bolton Rugby Union Club and Dancing Feet. Add to that the fact that…
Welcome to Summer!
As I walked down the school path this morning (which is looking great thanks to the efforts of Mr Williams) it felt good to be back. No, honestly - it did! We've a very busy term ahead - including SATs for Year 2 and Year 6. The children looked really smart (and surprisingly alert) in this…
There's a kind of hush....
.....all over the school. After a really enjoyable last day of term - from this morning's gymnastics presentation assembly to this afternoon's Easter Service during which the church was filled with song - the classrooms are now empty and the playgrounds are silent. I always tell the children that…
Easter (NOT Christmas) Assembly
This morning we were treated to a wonderful Key Stage 1 assembly reminding us of the true meaning of Easter (not Christmas as the Head Teacher said in an embarrassing slip of the tongue). The children and staff have worked really hard over the last few days and the result was a really entertaining…
An Afternoon with Year 2
Spent a very enjoyable afternoon with Year 2 - seen here posing in front of their wonderful Sunflower Display in the hall. They worked hard and showed some very good creative writing skills. I can't always get into the classroom as much as I'd like to but I always enjoy it when I do. Thank you…
An Eggstraordinary Day
The creativity of children (and their parents!) never ceases to amaze me. This morning's 'Decorate an Egg' competition had some wonderful entries - I'm glad that it wasn't ME who had to decide on the winners. Thank you for all your time and effort in making the event so…
V.I.P. Day
We had very special visitors in school today. The Mayor and Mayoress of Bolton joined us for our Lenten Tree ceremony and then spent an hour visiting all the classes in school. The Mayor was very complimentary about the children and remarked that they were a credit to the school (and they WERE!).
Sunday Walking Club
Sunday morning saw children and staff from St Stephen's walking in sunny Ainsworth.Beautiful countryside, lots of wildlife, blue skies and fresh air - why not join us next time?
Eyes Down for a Full House
The weekend started with an evening of Bingo, Quizzes and Pasties - and a good time was had by all. Thank you for your support on Friday - if you didn't win, there's always NEXT time.
