Hello everyone!
I hope that you are all safe and well and enjoying spending quality time with your family.
Do you remember the experiment that we did in our classroom where we found out if plants really do transport water around their body? We placed some white carnations in different jars and added various dyes and after a few days their petals turned blue. We saw a scientific process called capillary action take place in front of our very eyes. If you want to, you can replicate the experiment at home although I do recommend that you ask your grown-up to pull apart a felt tip pen!
A quicker alternative is the Walking Water experiment and, the best thing is that you only need things that you can find in your kitchen cupboard
You only need:
- three jars
- two different shades of food colouring (e.g. yellow and blue)
- Kitchen paper
- water

I hope that you enjoy doing this experiment with your family
