Smile Please!
Hectic start to the day (and the week) this morning. The school photographer is in - clicking away at staff and children (who all look great by the way). We've decided NOT to use this picture on the school website.
Today's Top Table
Last week's Star Award winners become THIS week's Top Table guests!
This Time Last Week
Was it only a week ago that I was in Grasmere with Year 5 in glorious sunshine? It's not been a week of walking, waterfalls and exploring caves but we DO aim to make every day at St Stephen's as memorable as possible - just ask the children what they've enjoyed most THIS…
It's Chaos Out There!
My usual thirty minute drive took one hour forty this morning. Big trouble on the local roads- lots of people stuck in traffic but we have enough staff in to ensure that it will be business as usual at St Stephen's.
Keep Flying the Flag!
Despite the fact that the England Rugby Team crashed out of the World Cup at the weekend the Flag of St George is flying proudly over Kearsley this morning. This is thanks to our School Council who donated the flag to St Stephen's Church and to Neil Turner who braved the weather to scale the…
I Survived Year Five!
We went, we walked, we came home again. We also surveyed traffic and building use in Grasmere Village, explored caves and waterfalls, scrambled up rocky paths, had lunch al fresco, slept in bunk beds, had 'midnight' feasts (at about ten o'clock), visited the grave of William Wordsworth, sampled…
Scout Boot Camp Survival Award
One of our Year 6 pupils (and a member of the '3rd Farnworth Scout Troop') proudly shows off the trophy recently awarded for SURVIVAL at the 2015 Boot Camp. Unlike the X Factor version, THIS Boot Camp involved putting up tents without adult support, chopping your own firewood and cooking your own…
Tuesday - Smooth Day
A GOOD day from start to finish - plenty of hard work in the classrooms, no dramas in the playground, good manners in the dining hall - and all played out to the sound track of music and singing as Mr Lee, our music specialist, put the children through their paces.
Writing Workshops with a Special Guest
This week we have a whole school WRITING focus and to get the week off to a cracking start we invited children's author Damien Harvey back to St Stephen's. Damien spent the day holding 'Writing Workshops' with every class in Key Stage 2. I'm looking forward to seeing the…
Star Award Top Table
I was joined on Top Table today by last week's Star Award winners.Good manners and very good appetites!
The Things You See From The Office Window!
Just happened to glance up to see Mrs Faulkner and Mrs Robinson putting the finishing touches to a rather magnificent Year 2 Pirate Scarecrow. Mr Williams is obviously on hand to make sure they're doing it right! Everyone has worked really hard this week and the result is a very interesting…
Weaving Willow with Reception Class
Just spent a very enjoyable 45 minutes with the Reception Class ECO Team weaving willow as part of our ECO Day activities!
The children were far better than I was but hopefully by the end of the day we will have a small flock of willow sheep grazing in the ECO Garden.
