Science Week - Charles Darwin
We continued our work on Evolution and inheritance by creating information texts on the Scientist Charles Darwin and his work on evolution. This was a great opportunity for cross-curricular writing.
World Book Day
To celebrate work book day and ‘Our Love of Reading’ we held a book swap so that everyone got to take a new-to-them book home. Throughout the day we completed lots of activities involving books and even had an ‘Extreme Reading’ competition across school.
Crucial Crew
Year 6 went to the army barracks in Bolton to learn more about keeping safe as they become more independent. Workshops were led by the Police, British Transport and Road Safety Team.
Revision Books
All children in Year 6 were given study books to help them at home.
SCARF Day
To celebrate SCARF day, which is our PSHE scheme, we all wore a scarf. Then we all designed our own scarfs to represent us.

NSPCC Number Day 2023
We celebrated NSPCC Number Day by taking parts in lots of activities involving number. These included things such as darts, murder mystery, board games, sudoku and much more.
Secrets of a Sun King
Our class read was a huge hit especially having had the live zoom with the author, Emma Carroll. We read it after studying Ancient Egypt so the children were very good at identifying the fact and fiction that Emma Carroll cleverly entwined in this historical fiction.

Electrifying Electricity
The children our really enjoying our Science topic of ‘Electricity’. They will move on to an experiment to complete a string of Christmas lights using LED bulbs.

We were lucky enough to take part in a zoom session with Emma Carroll, author of Secrets of a Sun King.
Egyptology Workshop
We went to Bolton Museum to continue our learning on Ancient Egypt. We looked at real Egyptian artefacts, found out more about mummification and the afterlife and even saw a real mummy from 3000 years ago.
