Once a half term all our children and their families and dogs are invited to take part in a ramble through the countryside. We have covered many local beauty spots on our walks:
We met at Rivington Barn and explored the area towards the Pike, returning to the Barn for refreshments at the end of our walk.
The Jumbles Reservoir is a very popular walking spot. We took our children one autumnal Sunday morning and enjoyed a ramble around the shores of the reservoir.
On Remembrance Day, we hiked up the hills to Affetside and held a two minute silence to remember those who died in the War.
At Christmas time our walk takes place at the Entwistle Reservoir or Clifton Marina. There is a tradition at Entwistle reservoir for families to decorate the trees and bushes with Christmas messages for loved ones. Our school family write messages on card baubles or wooden logs. Our Walking Club choose a tree and decorate it with our messages during their walk. We have extended this tradition to Clifton Marina where we have decorated a tree the last two years. We finish off the morning at a local public house where we enjoy coffee, juice and mince pies.
