Churches on the Mount

St Stephen's Church is part of a cluster of local churches who collaborate to bring the community together.

  • Visits to Schoenstatt Shrine - Our children visit the Schoenstatt Shrine to learn about the different places of worship. The Shrine has a very unique history.  It is one of a group of Shrines which are built in different places around the world as exact replicas of the original Shrine in Germany.  The Kearsley Shrine is the only Shrine in England and one of only two in the British Isles.  It was 2 years in the planning and took 10 months to build.  This very beautiful building was opened with a dedication on 1st Oct 2000, attended by Schoenstatt members from Mexico, Australia, South America, Scotland and Germany.  Please make time to visit the Shrine whenever you can.  Father David Musgrave from St John Fischer Roman Catholic Church, will show you a warm welcome.  Read more about the Shrine at http://schoenstatt.org.uk/

  • Community Day - All our families are invited to attend an annual Community Day where craft demonstrations, information stalls and activities such as dancing and zumba take place.

  • Christmas Joint Services - All churches in the cluster work together and share their Christmas services with each other.

Kearsley Community Christmas Tree

We have a healthy long-standing relationship with Kearsley Mount Methodist Church. Over the years we have participated in a number of joint activities. In 2013 we collaborated together to re-introduce a Kearsley Community Christmas tree to give the community a focal point over the festive period. The tree was sited in the grounds of the Methodist Church and our choir, accompanied by Kearsley Mount brass band, sang carols to officially switch on the lights. This has become an annual event which is enjoyed by the whole community.

Kearsley Brass Band

Kearsley Mount Methodist Church invite children from our school to join their brass band. Many of our children have participated in band practice and have performed with the band. They have the opportunity to play a variety of different brass instruments on Tuesday evening from 5.00 p.m. until 6.00 p.m. for younger children and 6.00 p.m. until 7.30 p.m. for main band members. For further details please contact Stephen Tonge on 01204 575324. One of the events at which the band play is the switch on of the Kearsley Community Christmas Tree lights.

Remembrance Parade

On Remembrance Sunday, children from St Stephen's walked behind our school banner from Kearsley Cricket Club to lay a poppy wreath at the war memorial. The parade braved the weather and continued back along Bolton Road to finish at the Schoenstatt Shrine.
