Year 2

Welcome to Year 2

Our teacher in Year 2 is Mrs Faulkner.  Our Teaching Assistant is the lovely Mrs Robinson.  We do lots of fun, exciting things in Year 2 which incorporate all aspects of the curriculum.  Please look on our blog to see what we have been doing.

We also have our own Learning Wall - see link below. We use the resources on the Wall to research out topics and curriculum work in school. Please use these resources at home to further develop your child's learning.

Topic Challenges

Our Topic Challenge for this half term is ...'Where would you rather live St Lucia or the U.K?'  We will explore the geographical landscape of St Lucia and research many of the physical and human aspects associated with this fascinating island culminating in our very own caribbean carnival.  This topic will be filled with lots of creative learning and will look at the artworks created by Llewellyn Xavier inspired by his St Lucian locality. The children will experience life at sea as we journey with  the first explorers over the seas to discover new lands with our Pirate Day. The learning wall ( as always ) also has useful activities to support your childs learning in school and it is a great way for your child to do some pre learning or extension learning. I regularly update this to support our current topics in class.

We are reading 'The Perils of Pirates and other Dastardly Deeds'  by Nicola Baxter to real get us in the mood for our Caribbean adventure . Try and look out for other books about pirates and bring them into class. Are all the books written on this topic fictional? Can you research any real life pirates? Dompirates still roam our seas? Have you read any other books by this author?  Take a look at our learning wall to help with your research.
